I am in the process of updating my website.......... please come back in a few days time to see what I have be working on.
Art enables us to find ourselves and loose ourselves at the same time - Thomas Merton I was born in Zambia and grew up in a small African town with the fitting name of Chililabombwe, meaning ' the land of the croaking frog'
Sent off to boarding school in South Africa at a very tender age, I have only one recollection of any artistic association to do with what inspires me today . . . it was a project on Galileo where I drew on black project paper, his wise bearded face, in white ink..., is this the affinity I have to the portraits I love to paint ?
I lived in S.A. through the very influential and expressive political period, firstly studying and starting my career in Information Technology, then changing career whilst bringing up my family to picture framing. Here I was introduced and exposed to some of South Africa's amazing artistic talents. My affiliation with art was awakened but really It wasn't until we moved to England a few years ago that I began 'painting' .
So I can say that I am a 'self taught' artist even though I sometimes question the phrase as I have learned from studying other artists work, gleaning their techniques, brush strokes and methods.
This is where I am today, establishing ' My style' , but am being influenced and encouraged by the many great artists, masters and current, that are out there. . . .
